| Achievements |
| Prof. Lin has conducted research in combustion science and fire safety engineering, with particular emphasis on smoldering combustion, wildland–urban interface (WUI) fires, material flammability, wildfire dynamics and data-driven fire modeling. He has been selected for a national-level young talent program and has participated in and led research projects supported by national and institutional funding schemes, including the National Key R&D Program of China. His research experience spans The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Science and Technology of China, facilitating interdisciplinary and international collaboration in fire science.
Prof. Lin has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal papers, with publications in leading journals in combustion, fire safety, and environmental science, including Combustion and Flame, Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, Environmental Science & Technology, International Journal of Wildland Fire, and Fire Safety Journal. His research has contributed to the understanding of smoldering and flaming fire dynamics, firebrand transport and ignition, WUI fire spread, and physics-informed and machine-learning approaches for fire prediction.
Prof. Lin is also actively engaged in academic and professional services within the international fire research community. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Wildland Fire, an Editorial Board Member of Fire Technology, and an Editor of the IAFSS Newsletter (Fire Safety Science News). His research achievements have been recognized through several academic honors and awards, including the Bernard Lewis Fellowship from The Combustion Institute.
