Artificial Intelligence for Safety and Energy Materials

In recent years, Dr. Yixin Hu has focused her research on functional and stimuli-responsive polymers, flame-retardant materials, and high-performance polymer composites. Her work aims to understand how molecular structures and chemical processes influence the properties and fire-safety performance of polymeric materials. She is also exploring how artificial intelligence, including machine learning and large language models, can be used to support materials research and accelerate the development of new flame-retardant and functional materials.

Her current research continues to bring together polymer chemistry, fire safety, and artificial intelligence, with the goal of developing functional and fire-safe materials through a combination of mechanistic understanding and data-driven approaches. Dr. Hu has published 15 SCI papers in journals including the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Science, Macromolecules, and ACS Materials Letters, with more than 1,000 citations. She received the Royal Society of Chemistry Materials Chemistry Horizon Prize in 2024 and was selected for the Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2025.
