Abstract: For the gas explosion to occur, a flammable atmosphere in the area of gas accumulation must be ignited. Whilst the avoidance of ignition sources and depression gas concentration can be applied as a suitable basis of gas explosion prevention, inerting by water mist is valid to prevent the atmosphere. being flammable, and therefore combustion is not possible. According to the experiments in the water mist co-flow tubular burner, the conditions and effect of gas inerting by water mist were analyzed in this paper. It is shown that the premixed gas ignition was retarded as the water mist injected. Under the interaction of water mists, the premixed gas flame inhibitions have different characteristics. With the increasing of water mist loading in the tubular burner, the premixed flame will be inhibited and hard to be reignited.
