The International Conference on Traffic and Granular Flow 2026（TGF26) was grandly held at the University of Bristol, UK, from June 16 to 19, 2026. During the conference, the International Association for Collective Dynamics (IACD), initiated by the Steering Committees of the conference TGF and the International Conferences on Pedestrian and Evacuation Dynamics (PED), was officially established. The first Executive Board of the association was elected, with Professor Jun Zhang from the State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (SKLFS) being selected as the inaugural Vice-Chairman of the Association.

Professor Jun Zhang has been engaged in research on pedestrian and evacuation dynamics for several years. He has carried out a series of studies in evacuation models, heterogeneous crowd pedestrian dynamics, etc., and has achieved internationally influential outcomes. He is a selected member of the National Innovation Talent Program Youth Project and a core member of the Key Innovation Team of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has presided over one National Key R&D Program project and four National Natural Science Foundation projects. He wins the first prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Occupational Safety and Health Association in 2023.

In recent years, the international influence of the SKLFS in the field of pedestrian and evacuation dynamics has continued to rise. Professor Jun Zhang was elected as the first vice president of the IACD, indicating that the research level and influence of the SKLFS in the field have made further breakthroughs.

The IACD aims to establish a high-level academic exchange platform for researchers engaged in collective dynamics worldwide. Its research areas cover multiple related fields such as pedestrian and evacuation dynamics, crowd science, traffic and granular flow. At the same time, it is responsible for ensuring the continuous hosting and academic quality of derivative academic conferences such as TGF and PED, promoting international cooperation, and facilitating the dissemination and transformation of scientific research outcomes.
