The Workshop on Pedestrian Traffic and Evacuation Dynamics 2019 was held successfully on September 8th, 2019 in Hefei, China, hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (SKLFS) at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). The Working Committee on Personnel Safety from Association for Public Safety in China co-hosted this workshop. This is the first session of the workshop launched and organized by Prof. Weiguo Song and Prof. Jun Zhang. It is planned to be organized every year in the future in China.
Professor Weiguo Song, Chairman of the Workshop, University of Science and Technology of China, chaired the opening ceremony in the morning and introduced the experts and scholars attending the workshop. Professor Naian Liu, on behalf of the SKLFS, USTC, delivered speeches in succession.
It was a successful event which gathered nearly 100 participants from 24 Universities and institutes in three countries to communicate and discuss the latest theories, techniques and developing trends in the field of pedestrian and evacuation dynamics. Professor Luciano Telesca from the Institute of Methodologies for Environmental Analysis in Italy and Professor Binghong Wang from USTC, the famous scientist in traffic flow were invited to attend the workshop.
In the first part, Professor Renyong Guo from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Professor Shuguang Kuai from East China Normal University and Professor Jun Zhang from USTC were invited to give speeches on Pedestrian traffic, Social grouping behaviors and Heterogeneous pedestrian flows.
The second part of the workshop was chaired by Professor Jun Zhang from USTC in the afternoon. Dr. Mohcine Chraibi from Research Centre Juelich in Germany, Professor Jian Ma from Southwest Jiaotong University, China, Professor Tao Chen from Tsinghua University and Professor Weiguo Song from USTC gave invited speeches on Pedestrian modeling, Multi-agents exit selecting online games, Evacuation psychology and Intersecting pedestrian flows.
