Abstract: Multi-source fires burning is a fundamental process involved with the development from group fire to regional fire. However, there is great difference for the burning characteristics between the multiple fire sources and one single fire source, which has not been paid much attention in the previous study. In this paper, small-scale tests and numerical simulations have been conducted to investigate the fire characteristics at the case of simultaneous occurrence of two corridor fire sources. Both the experiment and simulation results indicated that obvious tilted flame and the phenomenon of moving closer to each other had been observed between the two fire sources. The simulation results predicted the velocity distribution in some sections always subjected to Gaussian profile for subsection. Besides, in the experiments, with the increase of fire size at the corner, the time for the peak ceiling temperature between two fires arrived earlier, and the distribution of vertical temperature was in a good agreement with Gaussian profile under different sizes of middle fires.
