Abstract: Full-scale fire tests on upholstery sofa of different covers were conducted in the ISO 9705 room (3.6 mx2.4 mx2.4 m). The upholstery sofas had the same size, shape, frame, and foam, but different type of cover. Experimental measurements for each sofa included: Heat Release Rate, temperature history inside the fire-test room, also the mole fractions, of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide inside the exhaust duct. The relationships among the fire parameters were also studied. From the experiments it was found that each type of cover presented different fire hazards. But each of them had a rapid-fire growth. The results will provide references for building fire protection and fire safety design.
