Abstract: The complex chemistry of a methane-air flame doped with phosphorus-containing compounds(PCCs) was determined and it was validated with experimental data. Modeling of partially stirred reactors (PaSR) by stochastic Monte Carlo simulations was carried out to investigate flame inhibition by PCCs considering the effects of turbulent mixing. Effects on flame structures were determined by varying the ratio tau(mix)/tau(res) (the residence time tau(res) and the mixing time tau(mix)). Numerical simulations were performed for a wide range of tau(mix) and tau(res) revealing extinction behaviors. A detailed investigation of catalytic cycles involved in the recombination of key flame radicals is discussed.
