Project Title: Clean Flame Retardant mechanism of Polymer/layered inorganic material Nanocomposites

Abstract:

Polymer materials are used in every field of production and life, but the flammability of many kinds of polymer leads to lots of fire accidents which endanger the life and wealth of people. All kinds of flame retardants are usually added in polymer materials to improve the inflaming retarding property of polymer materials, but those flame retardants reduce the physics and mechanics properties, improve the toxicity of product of combustion and value of costing. This project began with the preparation of clean polymer/layered inorganic materials nanocomposites and their flame retardant mechanism. The suitable layered inorganic materials were modified by organic agent, and then compounded with polymer to form intercalated or exfoliated nanocomposites. This project studied on the methods of preparation of nanocomposites, reaction mechanism, mechanics, thermal stability, flammability, dynamics of thermolysis, constitution of product of combustion and microstructure, and the synergic inflaming retarding effect of organic modified agents, layered inorganic materials and inorganic additive. It is helpful on develop new inflaming retarding technology and novel clean high performance inflaming retarding materials, and establish theoretical basis of the application of inflaming retarding polymer/inorganic materials nanocomposites.
