Between 9th and 11th of March of 2011, Professor Toshisuke Hirano from Tokyo university and Professer Lijing GAO from Chiba Institute of Science visited the State Key Laboratory of Fire Science and gave academic presentations entitled as “Function of Leader at Crisis Management ”and “Risk Assessment and Recycling of Industrial Waste” in the morning of March 9. Afterwards, in-depth discussions on research exchanges and collaborations with the staff and students of the fire laboratory were held.
Professor Hirano, who has made very important contributions to the development of the State Key Laboratory of Fire Science, was previously the secretary-general of International Combustion Institute and the chairman of International Association for Fire Safety Science. He was honoured with the Friendship Award and International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of People's Republic of China and now he is the president of Chiba Institute of Science. 
Professor Lijing Gao received her doctoral degree at Tokyo university in 1999 and now she is chairing the Fire Research at Chiba Institute of Science. In these years, she has been very active in international fire safety field. Her main research fields are focused on fire safety in waste storage , secure applications of RDF and so on.
